The Golden Mask of Reanimation is one of a multitude of Golden Masks crafted by the Mask Maker Makuta and hidden upon the island of Okoto.
History[]
The Mask of Reanimation was created many thousands of years ago by Makuta, who aspired to one day usurp his brother, Ekimu, as the most venerated Mask Maker on Okoto. It is said to have been carved from unknown elemental crystals and infused with dark magic. Originally intended as a means of reviving the wearer from serious injury or reforming bodily amputations, the mask proved to have more sinister capabilities. Deemed an unacceptable and highly immoral mask, Makuta hid his creation in a fortress located towards the north of the Jungle Region, in the Great Marsh.
With the location of the mask known only to Makuta and a handful of Jungle Region natives, the site would eventually be lost to the ravages of time following the supposed death of Makuta. For many thousands of years, the Golden Mask of Reanimation is known to have resided within the Jungle Region.
Roughly 20 years ago, the Protector of Jungle - Vizuna's mother - journeyed through the Great Marsh whilst investigating a number of suspicious reports from the area. Presumably locating both the ruins and the mask, she marked her position upon a map of the region and later gifted it to her son some time before her retirement.
Following the revival of Ekimu, an eccentric Fire villager named Takua overheard mention of Makuta's Golden Masks whilst attending a campfire gathering in the Jungle Region. Setting out on a quest to locate the mask, Takua enlisted his friend Jaller to accompany him on this journey.
Example Usage[]
Intended to enable a wearer to recover from fatal injuries, the Golden Mask of Reanimation instead used a combination of elemental crystals and dark necromancy to animate to corpses of a deceased target to fulfill the wearer’s bidding.
