Fulgurite was Toa Maroona's Toa tool.

History

Fulgurite was created by the Great Beings, without a name, for the Toa of Lightning Maroona to use as a Toa tool with which she could defend Powai Nui. The weapon, which she named after the result of lightning discharging into the ground, was worked on by numerous weapon smiths across the island due to the flaws originating from its construction. Its ability to retract its blade wasn't given to it by the Great Beings and was instead also given to it on Powai Nui. Maroona requested this ability after trying to hook the weapon on a thick tree branch to stop her from falling but instead severing the branch completely. When Maroona became a Turaga, Fulgurite was transformed into her Conductor Staff, which she used as her Badge of Office from then on.

Description

Fulgurite was most similar to a war scythe in appearance and function. With enough practice, a Toa could swing the weapon with enough force to fell a small tree in one swing. The outer edge of its blade was serrated while the inner edge was smooth. The inner blade also had the ability to retract at the user's command, a function that was most commonly used so that it could be hooked onto objects without damaging them.

Example Usages

In Against the Storm/Volume VI, Maroona used Fulgurite to fire a deafening bolt of lightning at Hysterix, doing relatively considerable damage to the armored Makuta.
