Toa Feldspar is a Toa of Earth and member of the Toa Lanai II, a lifelong resident of Lanai Nui, and one of the main individuals fighting against the resurgent Makuta Contingency. A gentle and peace-loving soul, he desperately wishes for the safety of the Matoran.
History[]
Early Life[]
Feldspar, like most Onu-Matoran, began his life shortly before the completion of the Great Spirit Robot on Spherus Magna. He was placed on Lanai Nui with a number of other Matoran, and for many years, he labored in a non-sentient state, an existence which would give way to full sentience sometime shortly after the Great Spirit Robot's takeoff into interstellar space.
For almost his entire life, Feldspar lived in peace and monotony. After Lanai Nui fell under Noblintian control shortly after the fall of the League of Six Kingdoms, Feldspar found employment in the Noblintian army. Due to his status as a Matoran, he was not allowed to serve in its expeditionary teams, but was instead stationed on Lanai Nui as a medic working with Noblintian soldiers. He worked in this capacity for many years.
Eventually, seeking a more exciting life, Feldspar took up a position as a field medic and rescue technician working in the wild areas of Lanai Nui. His gregarious and friendly nature endeared him to the populace of Lanai Nui, and he made many friends among the island's Matoran and even became known to its Noblintian rulers. At some point, Feldspar rescued a Po-Matoran spy of Makuta Imperas from a crevice in Ko-Lanai, an action for which Imperas rewarded him with a medal and public ceremony.
Great Cataclysm and Life Afterwards[]
The Great Cataclysm, while it did not completely uproot Feldspar's life, nonetheless had a significant impact on his psyche. The island of Lanai Nui itself was mostly spared from the worst impacts of the disaster, but the neighboring island of Engetu sustained severe damage that would cause a volcanic eruption and destroy the island. When the severity of the eruption became apparent, being visible from Lanai Nui, Feldspar commandeered one of a fleet of rescue boats to assist the island's Matoran. Feldspar and his associates did not make it in time- the island had already been consumed by the eruption, and the surviving Matoran saved by an errant fishing vessel. The bodies that Feldspar saw on the ruined shores of Engetu would haunt him in his nightmares for years to come. Additionally, he was disheartened by Makuta Imperas' newly aggressive behavior against Lanai Nui and its inhabitants- he could not reconcile the Makuta's kindness to him with his horrific deeds.
In the aftermath of the Great Cataclysm, shaken by his experiences and the reveal of Imperas' true nature, Feldspar retired from active rescue duty and moved to an isolated area of Onu-Lanai, where he found work as a miner. Here, he met Kuros , a withdrawn Ko-Matoran refugee from Engetu. The two became fast friends, and Feldspar was one of the few individuals who could bring Kuros out of his shell. Feldspar also grew acquainted with Kuros' friends Tegis and Acasta. At some point, Feldspar became acquainted with Yavzei of the Toa Lanai I after she paid a visit to Onu-Lanai. He would come to respect the irritable Vo-Toa as a mentor and idol.
Feldspar happened to be visiting Ta-Lanai-Koro on business on the day of Makuta Imperas' final attack on the island. Yavzei rushed him to safety and urged him to leave as Imperas' troops opened fire on a group of striking Matoran, but he crouched in the rubble of a destroyed building and watched the ensuing events. The unfortunate Onu-Matoran witnessed most of the slaughter that occurred- he saw the Toa Lanai I systematically mowed down by Imperas with brutal efficiency and ruthlessness. Yavzei's death proved especially disturbing to him, and after witnessing it he fled into the nearby subtropical woodlands and vomited. He continued to flee on foot back to Onu-Lanai, and he never spoke about what he saw. Feldspar swore he would avenge the fallen Toa team someday, and despite haunting him for years, the sights he saw would embolden him and give him an even stronger respect for the mantle of Toa.
Due to the fact that Makuta Teridax's takeover of the Matoran Universe was halted by the Toa Mahri and Toa Nuva in The Fall Alternate Timeline, and that Spherus Magna was never reformed and the Matoran Universe never destroyed as a consequence, Feldspar continued to live on Lanai Nui instead of emigrating onto Spherus Magna. Additionally, Imperas and his fellow Makuta were never killed by Teridax, and continued to slumber beneath Lanai Nui.
Becoming a Toa[]
Three years after the disappearance of Makuta Imperas and the deaths of most of Havara 's Toa team, Toa Chivon, by then the de facto ruler of Lanai Nui, decided it was time for a new Toa team to be made. Chivon privately consulted Havara and convinced him to emerge from his isolation to lead a new team; Chivon then produced three Toa Stones and sought out three Matoran recommended by Havara- Kuros, Feldspar, and a female Fa-Matoran named Ketsana. When Chivon found Feldspar and offered him a Toa Stone, Feldspar accepted his duty with great reverence and solemnity as well as a small amount of hidden joy. He promised to make Chivon, Havara, and Havara's fallen allies proud, and he accompanied Chivon to the Suva at Kini-Lanai. Along the way, he exhausted Chivon with questions about life as a Toa.
Upon meeting with Kuros and Ketsana at the Suva, Feldspar fearlessly placed his Toa Stone in the Suva and became a Toa.
