The Fallen Spirit Universe is a alternate universe in which a zombie like virus known as the Great Plague ravaged the Matoran Universe after infected beings entered through Kini Nui.

History[]

Its earliest history is unknown. The Great Beings came to rule the warriors and Agori of Spherus Magna, though they later granted Element Lords leadership in order to focus on their projects.

In the Shattering, Energized Protodermis in the core of Spherus Magna caused it to explode, breaking it into three major parts: Aqua Magna, Bota Magna, and Bara Magna. Many inhabitants survived on Bota Magna and Bara Magna, though the Great Beings disappeared.

Mata Nui, the Great Spirit within a massive robot, was tasked with recreating Spherus Magna from the parts following a journey to learn from cultures on other planets. Many biomechanical beings (such as the Matoran) resided within the Great Spirit in order to keep him functioning, unbeknownst to them.

Around 4,000 years ago, during his journey, Mata Nui discovered a planet that contained a form of life that exhibited behaviors that Mata Nui had not seen anywhere before. Wanting to learn more Mata Nui landed on the planet and activated his camouflage protocol. Some of the beings detected life and moved to the island's surface. Sensing uninfected beings the creatures broke through Kini Nui and headed past the great barrier and all the way to Metru Nui.

In a matter of days Metru Nui was overrun by the infected with the resident Toa Mangai being overwhelmed with only their Toa of Fire surviving. The surviving Matoran of Metru Nui were granted sanctuary on Daxia by the Order of Mata Nui. As the Brotherhood of Makuta attempted to contain and eliminate the infection. Unfortunately due to an oversight by the Order and Brotherhood, the infected were able to escape and overrun most of the Matoran Universe. During this time the Order of Mata Nui, Brotherhood of Makuta, and the Dark Hunters united to form the Kaita Nui Alliance and managed to save the western southern island chain from the infected.

With the surviving population of the Matoran Universe secured the Kaita Nui Alliance turned their sights to reclaiming key islands to use as a jumping point to Metru Nui, while they kept Mata Nui alive by using the Kanohi Ignika.

Locations[]

Metru Nui[]

The first island to fall to the infected, Metru Nui was formerly known as one of the most thriving cities in the universe. When the infection began it took hold faster than the local Toa Mangai could contain with some among their numbers becoming infected. Infected Rahi and Matoran quickly overwhelmed the Vahki during the chaos. The remaining Toa Mangai set about evacuating the matoran but rescued less than half of the total population. In a battle between most of the remaining Toa Mangai against their infected brothers Turaga Dume was killed. The city has long since been abandoned and is home to great numbers of infected matoran and rahi. though attempts have been made to clear the city they have been so far unsuccessful.

Karzahni[]

Karzahni was the one oversight in the Order of Mata Nui's plan to clear Metru Nui. Unbeknownst to them the infected had managed to reach Karzahni though a underground tunnel and were already infecting the matoran of Karzahni. By the time the ruler of the island was aware of the situation it was too late. Karzahni died fighting off hordes of the matoran he repaired over the years. The island has less than ideal conditions for a campaign to reclaim it from the infected and has been left untouched by the Kaita Nui Alliance over the years.

Zakaz[]

After the fall of Karzahni the infected quickly moved to the nearest island of Zakaz. Due to the quarantine of the island by the Brotherhood of Makuta and Order of Mata Nui the infection was largely unnoticed as both groups were focused on clearing Metru Nui. As the island was overrun large groups of Skakdi refugees fled to neighboring islands such as Xia or Stelt. During the chaos the Skakdi warlord Nektan went missing with some claiming he went down fighting hundreds of infected Skakdi and felled dozens of them before his demise. After it's fall the island has remained relatively untouched due to it's little strategic value.

Xia[]

As the infection spread from Zakaz, Xia was one of the next main islands to be affected by the hordes. The local Vortixx populace tried to put a stop to the infections to no avail. After the Kanohi Dragon was infected the island was deemed beyond saving and the remaining Vortixx evacuated with the aid of the Brotherhood of Makuta. Several attempts have been made in recent times to reclaim the island in one of these attempts the infected Kanohi Dragon was slain and in another the Makuta of Stelt was killed when he was devoured by The Mountain which itself had become infected. Though most of the former cities have been destroyed the Kaita Nui Alliance continues to try to reclaim the island.

Stelt[]

Stelt was one of the luckier islands, when the infection spread to Xia the residents began to evacuate the island when it became clear that the infection would not easily be stopped. Afterward the Kaita Nui Alliance began to routinely clear the island of any infected that swam to its shores. Currently Stelt is one of the only northern islands to not be overrun and is frequently used to bait large numbers of infected into a trap to reduce their numbers by the Alliance.

Northern Continent[]

The Northern Continent was hit with the infection around the same time as Xia. Unlike Xia the Northern Continent was quickly overrun and what few survivors remained fled the island to neighboring islands. The Kaita Nui Alliance has managed to reclaim around half of the island so far but struggles to keep the ground that it gains due to the island's size. Currently the campaign to reclaim the Northern Continent is deemed as the third most important after the Southern Continent and Xia campaigns.

Artakha[]

Artakha was one of the more fortunate islands during the earlier days of the infection. Helryx after realizing the danger the Great Plague was to the Matoran Universe, quickly sent out a message to Artakha to evacuate the island and head south. With some help from the Order of Mata Nui and Brotherhood of Makuta the residents of Artahka were evacuated to the southern islands. During the evacuation Helryx ordered the deaths of all four Crystal Serpents which were swiftly hunted down. The island is now abandoned except for a decent sized population of infected Artakha Bulls that are currently being hunted down. Dark Hunter recovery teams often come to the island to obtain resources for the southern island settlements.

Southern Continent[]

When the infection spread to Xia and the Northern Continent the Order of Mata Nui and Brotherhood of Makuta both realized that it was only a matter of time until the infection would reach the Southern Continent. An evacuation was immediately put together as both factions tried to get the resident matoran to safety but before they could even get a quarter of the island's population evacuated the infection had already reached the island. within weeks the entire island fell to the undead and both groups gave up on their evacuations leaving any survivors to die. Recently the Kaita Nui Alliance has launched a campaign to reclaim the island and have set up a small foothold for the time being as they try to reclaim islands to the north. Most of the matoran population has been infected along with the rahi population, making the island one of the most dangerous of the overrun islands.

Odina[]

Odina was the once mighty fortress of the dark hunters ages ago. When the infection began to spread to the south and west the island's dark hunter fortress came under siege from the infected. With aid from the Brotherhood of Makuta and the Order of Mata Nui the infected were temporarily repelled from the island. Soon after the island's dark hunter population was evacuated before the infected overran the island. Odina has been scavenged for resources time and time again by reconnaissance units of the Kaita Nui Allaince. Plans to retake the island have been made by "TheShadowedOne" but they have been considered low priority by the other Council members.

Destral[]

Destral was built long ago to serve as the Brotherhood of Makuta's fortress. However it would become the Kaita Nui Alliance's greatest tool in the fight against the infection. During the early days of the infection the Brotherhood utilized the island's teleportation ability to help in evacuations of other islands. Notably Destral was transported close to Daxia to evacuate the Order of Mata Nui members and Metru Nui refugees along with any artifacts they could carry before the latter island's destruction. Currently the Alliance's strategy for retaking islands is to have Destral teleport off of said island's coast and unleash an army of Exo-Toa, Fohrok, and Rahkshi led by a few Makuta to combat the infected. The island is also where experiments are done to learn more about the infection. Such as Makuta Mutran's numerous experiments on the captured Makuta Spiriah which eventually led to the discovery that Makuta were immune to the virus.

Daxia[]

Before the outbreak Daxia was the main base of the Order of Mata Nui. When Metru Nui was overrun the Matoran refugees were offered temporary sanctuary on the island. When the infection spread to the Southern Continent the Order moved the Matoran, all agents residing on the island, and as many resources as possible to Destral. Then the remaining Order of Mata Nui members lured as many infected as possible onto the island before teleporting away and detonating the island from a distance. Though all infected on the island were killed in the blast it is unusable in its current form.

Nynrah[]

Less than a week after the siege of Odina the newly formed Kaita Nui Alliance began a coordinated defense of Nynrah while they evacuated the Nynrah Ghosts. After the Nynrah Ghosts were secured, efforts to evacuate the remaining populace began as the defenses around the island weakened. Once the majority of the population was evacuated, all forces in the area were rerouted to more important tasks, leaving the island to be overrun in a single day. Currently the island holds little strategic value and is not likely to be reclaimed any time soon.

Visorak[]

Visorak was one of the less fortunate islands as it had little strategic value or much intelligent populace. Since the Visorak were susceptible to the infection they were deemed useless in the battle to contain the infection. As the infected arrived on it's shores Makuta Chirox led the entire horde into a battle that lasted three days. In the end hundreds of infected were killed and the Visorak were wiped out completely. Currently there are no plans to reclaim the island as it has a dense concentration of infected and almost no strategic value.

Reylu Nui[]

As things began to look more and more dire for the residents of the Matoran Universe. The Order of Mata Nui and Brotherhood of Makuta moved to secure a region of the universe to relocate the thousands of refugees from the northern islands. They settled on the western chain of the southern islands and claimed the last five as the new home for the displaced species. Relyu Nui was the northernmost of these islands, due to its position being the closest to the territory claimed by the infected the island is frequently attacked by the infected. As a result the island has the least amount of civilian population out of all the islands controlled by the Kaita Nui Alliance. Unsurprisingly the island is also home to the largest military presence out of the five, with its resident commander being former Order of Mata Nui member Tobduk. The island was renamed after it was settled with it's new name translating to great stronghold in matoran.

Casa Nui[]

Just southwest of Reylu Nui is Casa Nui translating to great refugee in matoran. Casa Nui serves as a large scale refugee camp for any survivors of the outbreak, it is home to a wide range of intelligent species and rahi alike. Following the destruction of Daxia in the early years of the outbreak the Kaita Nui alliance needed someplace to relocate the growing numbers of refugees fleeing from islands overrun by the infected. After establishing a barrier at Reylu Nui, The Kaita Nui alliance relocated the majority of the refugees to the three islands of Casa Nui, Ankir Nui, and Kerlok Nui. In the present day a large settlement covers roughly three quarters of the island. In a collective effort the refugees were the ones responsible for creating most of the settlement on the island while the Kaita Nui alliance contributed some into key buildings and warning bells as well as the wall surrounding the perimeter of the island. rahkshi are stationed at the wall to repel the occasional infected being that makes it past Reylu Nui however it is unlikely that they could repel a large scale attack. The residents of Casa Nui live in general harmony with each other with only the occasional squabble amongst them. Turaga Jovan has been tasked with looking after Casa Nui by the Kaita Nui alliance and regularly reports to the alliance.

Ankir Nui[]

Just east of Casa Nui, Ankir Nui translating to great sanctuary in matoran Ankir Nui is similar to it's western neighbor in many ways. It too was selected for the relocation of several refugees in the early days of the outbreak. However unlike Casa Nui, Ankir Nui's residents don't exactly coexist as well as on some of the other islands, this may be partly due to the notably high skakdi population. Ankir Nui also has the lowest matoran population on all the remaining islands after Reylu Nui. During the settlement of the island most of the vortixx and steltian population relocated to Ankir Nui and began work to industrialize the island. Currently very little of Ankir Nui's original environment remains due to the rapid construction. Ankir Nui has very similar defenses to that of Casa Nui with a wall being around the perimeter of the island which is patrolled by rahkshi, former Dark Hunter and advisor of "TheShadowedOne", "Ancient" has been tasked with overseeing Ankir Nui and has managed to keep the populace of the island in check so far.

Kerlok Nui[]

Orepolo Nui[]

The Red Star[]

During the early days of the outbreak in Metru Nui several of the slain infected were teleported to the Red Star and were repaired by the Kestora however the infection still remained and they began to infect the other residents of the Red Star and ultimately overwhelmed the Kestora. Currently the Red Star orbits the Matoran Universe but has lost all of it's functions due to the lack of living beings on the station.
