Elemental Codexes were a series of books imbued with elemental powers created by Chalka in the Chalkaverse-1
History[]
Creation and Placement[]
The Elemental Codexes were created and written by Chalka not long after the completion and launch of the Great Spirit Robot. After their completion the codexes were hidden throughout the Matoran Universe and the Solis Magna System, with two being placed in the care of Chahrak-Kal and his hive.
A few years prior to the recruitment of the Toa Hagah teams by the Brotherhood of Makuta, Aquavian treasure-hunter Caelphrin and ex-courier Toa Venthur discovered a dungeon hidden behind one of the less prominent acid falls of the Tren Krom Peninsula. Upon exploring this dungeon and defeating its guardian, the pair recovered the Codex of Sonics. Caelphrin allowed Venthur to retain possession of the codex before departing for his own home, and Venthur put the codex to use in his Toa duties.

Function[]
Each Codex is imbued with elemental energy equal to that of a Toa. The bearer is able to tap into that energy, allowing them to control that element as though it were their native ability. Any being using a Codex containing a power they already possess will have their power and energy increased, with the exception of the Codex of Kraata.
Possessing multiple Codexes would allow the bearer to access any of the elements they choose, though it would take large amounts of concentration and willpower to use more than one at once.
