Echoes in the Past is the fifth installment in the Unending Shadows Storyline. Written by Invader39, the story follows Arker and his team as they continue their training in the Order of Mata Nui.

It serves as a sequel to Haunted Origins and as a prequel to The Arker Chronicles.

Synopsis

Taking place five-thousand years after Haunted Origins, Echoes in the Past follows Arker, Implex and Skyer as they train as both Toa and Order agents. They are joined by Coltrix, a relatively new Toa as well.

One day they are assigned to find a Vo-Matoran named Kinla, who's Destiny is intertwined with theirs. However, along the way, they run into the Legion of Chaos, and they discover that a lot more is going on than meets the eye.

• This story was originally intended to be the first in a trilogy of comics in Invader39's original story, along with Haunted Origins, which was originally called Ground Zero. This concept was then scrapped and it was morphed into its current incarnation.
• It was originally a miniseries before it was converted into a comic to make it easier to produce.
