Dracons are a dragon-like race "native" to the southern islands of the Matoran Universe.
History[]
The Chronicles of Fa[]
The Dracons seemed to not be a species created by Mata Nui. Instead, they mysteriously appeared from the far south and began to conquer going north. They pillaged and plundered until they finally arrived on the island of Tall Towers, which were part of the Southern Continent. They enslaved the population there and constantly ate their crops and cattle to assert their dominance.
Eventually, the mythical hero Aranu arrived on the island and challenged the chief. He quickly defeated Braka-Quarix, chained him up, and used him to hunt down the other Dracons until he was the only one left. Left scarred and humiliated, Quarix left the island to fade into obscurity as the last of his kind.
Abilities and Traits[]
Dracons have been described by Matoran as Dragon-Like creatures, which is a fitting description. However, Dracons walk upright like a lot of other sapient creatures in the Matoran Universe.
The Dracons species have medium-sized wings that come out of their back, and a tail that is almost as long as their arm. Dracons also have a dragon-like head and teeth, and come in numerous colors, depending on what element they belong to. They also have the ability to project their element out of their mouth through blowing, such as blowing fire or wind like a dragon would.
Dracons have a fascinating, barbaric culture. They are known for their love of bloodshed and war, hence their constant invading. They would eat crops and cattle and sing about it. According to some of their recorded songs, they also had organized ways to tell time. One of their greatest features, however, was how poetic they talked. They had their own language, which managed to rhyme most of the time.
In terms of societal structure, it was simple: the biggest and strongest Dracon was the chief, no questions asked. When someone wished to challenge the chief, he came out gladly to prove himself. There were no exceptions to this.

- Dracons where made because of the fact BIONICLEToa originally intended Quarix to be an intelligent dragon creature. However, due to the fact that he seemed too upright, he decided to make him a sapient species in the Matoran Universe, which was on the verge of extinction.
- The way Dracons would sing, plunder and invade lands was inspired by both Vikings and the horrifying Fomorians from Celtic Invasion myths.
