Degrogak is a wandering Toa of Sonics.
History[]
Degrogak was once a De-Matoran, enslaved by the Brotherhood of Makuta on Destral. He was tasked with monitoring whispers of rebellion among fellow Matoran slaves, and honed his skills to detect even the most subtle murmurs. Eventually, the Brotherhood subjected Degrogak to a virus that heightened his hearing even further, making every sound agonizing to him. Despite this, from this affliction emerged a silver lining: Degrogak's innate abilities evolved, and he began to understand the very essence of sound.
One day, a vessel of Toa Energy, smuggled into the Destral fortress by another Matoran, found its way to Degrogak and transformed him into a Toa of Sonics. Empowered, he broke free, liberating his brethren.
During the Toa-Dark Hunter War in Metru Nui, Toa Mangai Naho enlisted Degrogak's help. He joined the Toa army that ambushed the Dark Hunters in Po-Metru, marking the war's end.
Revenge Against the Brotherhood[]
Over the next centuries, Degrogak sought vengeance against the Brotherhood of Makuta and became a hunter. He mastered the art of silence, using it to render his adversaries helpless as he dispatched them. Degrogak also sought to liberate every Matoran he encountered under the Brotherhood's yoke and orchestrated audacious rescues.
His crusade culminated in a showdown with the very Makuta who once tormented him. With his intimate knowledge of the Brotherhood fortress they were in, Degrogak used its echoing chambers to his advantage and ensnared his opponent in a sonic vortex. The concentrated sound waves were so powerful that they shook the Makuta apart into nothing more than atoms, killing them.
With his nemesis defeated, Degrogak opted for solitude, roaming the universe as a sentinel and safeguarding Matoran from other perils. However, his reputation as a Makuta killer turned him into a pariah and prevented him from settling in any location or from joining a Toa team.
Following the Reign of Shadows and Teridax's death, Degrogak, like all survivors from the Matoran Universe, relocated to Spherus Magna.
Abilities and Traits[]
Due to his journey marred by torment and vengeance, Degrogak has rejected the ethics expected from a Toa; he is willing to break the Toa Code, wield an immoral mask power, strike from the shadows, and kill his enemies.
Still, his past as a slave has also instilled in him a strong sense of justice. To Degrogak, slavery isn't just a system of physical bondage but an affront to the very spirit of freedom and dignity. His fight against it is driven by a deep-seated belief that every individual, regardless of their origins, deserves autonomy and respect.
Degrogak has an exceptional memory that allows him to recall past sounds and conversations with remarkable accuracy.
Powers[]
As a Toa of Sonics, Degrogak is able to create, control and absorb sound. His long tenure as a Toa, combined with the exposure to a Makuta virus that heightened his innate abilities, has made him extremely adept and dangerous with his element.
His sonic capabilities are complemented by an acute sensitivity to sound, enabling him to perceive even the faintest of noises. This makes him an unparalleled hunter and tracker. Additionally, he has been trained by the Makuta to discern lies by detecting subtle shifts in an individual's breathing patterns, making it nearly impossible to deceive him.
Mask and Tools[]
Degrogak wears a Great Kanohi Mask of Aging, which allows him to accelerate the life processes of one or more targets to make them slower and weaker. His preferred hunting strategy involves combining silence and his mask power to dispatch his targets easily and stealthily.
Degrogak wields a lance to channel his powers and for melee combat.

Trivia[]
- Helryx considered recruiting Degrogak for the Order of Mata Nui, to act as a nexus between Toa and the Order. However, she ultimately decided against it, as she thought that Degrogak's reputation would not garner respect from other Toa. As a result, she resorted to recruiting Krakua instead.
- Diebeq originally created Degrogak in 2008, as a Makuta. He was characterized similarly to Makuta Miserix in that iteration.
- Degrogak's MOC wears the standard form of a Great Mask of Aging designed by KhingK3D.
