The Dead Star is a dying star seen in the night skies of Okoto.
Description[]
According to ancient tablets, the Dead Star is a red star within a neighboring solar system. While the exact nature of it isn't fully known, it is commonly believed that the Dead Star grants certain beings access to powers not native to Okoto. One of these abilities is often said to be necromancy (or the enhancement of pre-existing powers over this dark art). It is also said to grant one the power to create Toa-warriors, especially those of Lightning, Plasma, and Gravity.
History[]
While the exact age of the Dead Star is unknown, many ancient astronomers believed it to be at least a few billion years old. One legend claims that it once served as a portal to a world of the dead, ruled by a "Grey King". Others say that is a device of the divines, created to resurrect fallen warriors in preparation for the end of Okoto. Whatever the case, it is a symbol found in many cultures on the island.
Thousands of years ago, the Skull Priests attempted to harness the powers of the Dead Star. Out of them all, it is said that only Ghulmia succeeded in obtaining any of its power. However, even the boost she received from it was not enough to defeat the leader of the liche-circle. Rumor has it that during the war with the Skull Creatures, Kulta gained access to its necromantic energies to reanimate an army of undead warriors to fight beside him, thus creating the Skull Army. In more recent times, astronomers noticed it glowing brighter than usual. During this event, three meteors fell onto the island, each one a different color.
