De-Matoran are a sub-species of Matoran imbued with an Elemental influence over Sonics.

History[]

Similarly to all other Matoran sub-species, the De-Matoran were conceived by the Great Beings on Spherus Magna. For a number of years, they aided in the early construction of the Matoran Universe with no worldly desires or true consciousness. After a considerable period of heavy labor, the De-Matoran were eventually placed in isolated, high-altitude climates across the Great Spirit Robot, generally avoiding interaction with other Matoran settlements. Occasionally sharing their terrain with the larger Matoran populace, the De-Matoran endeavored to carry out their purpose by maintaining their villages, to ensure the continued functionality of the Great Spirit. Shortly after the successful launch of the Matoran Universe, all Matoran gained true sentience due to Velika's tampering with the Matoran species. Although they continued their original task, De-Matoran became imbued with emotions and developed individual idiosyncrasies .

Roughly five years ago, a De-Matoran colony on the Tren Krom Peninsula was assaulted by a Shadow Matoran named Vultraz. Incapacitating a number of the villagers whilst searching for a villager named Krakua, Vultraz was eventually fended off by the efforts of a wandering Ko-Matoran named Mazeka. With Krakua escorted to safety and with the Shadow Matoran disappearing shortly after, the De-Matoran residents swiftly resumed their normal way of life.

Abilities and Traits[]

De-Matoran are known to be a solitary and reserved tribe who put unbridled passion into scholarly pursuits. Often proving to be the most solitary and irritable of Matoran breeds, De-Matoran have been accused of being secretive and manipulative individuals over the long history of the Matoran Universe, often consorting exclusively with their kind and avoiding social interactions.

Possessing the vestiges of dormant Elemental Sonics Energy, De-Matoran possess a natural affinity with quieter, more remote climates with a slight preference for brisker conditions. With an extraordinarily adept range of hearing, De-Matoran are often prone to picking up sounds and frequencies beyond the average range of hearing.

Typically male, De-Matoran are known to adorn themselves in gray armor, usually complimented by secondary shades of black or silver.
