Daxos was a Makuta and a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta, known for presiding over the Southern Continent. His presence was most notable in the Astray Alternate Universe, where he served as a member of Velika's Empire.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Daxos was created by Mata Nui alongside the other Makuta from a greenish-black liquid on an island in one the Southern Chains of the Matoran Universe. Alongside the rest of his species, he became a member of the Brotherhood of Makuta, an organization tasked with maintaining order and carrying out the will of Mata Nui.
Daxos was responsible for the creation of several Rahi breeds to populate the Matoran Universe during this early period, notably creating the Muaka, Shallows Cat, and other feline species. Around this same time, he befriended his fellow Makuta Krika. The two often aided each other with various experiments.
After the Matoran Civil War came to an end, Daxos was assigned to supervise the Southern Continent by Makuta Miserix. He was chosen for this position to balance out Mutran, who was assigned the central region. While Mutran did not pay much attention to his designated region, Daxos frequently made many trips out to the island.
When Teridax demanded a convocation to be held on Destral in order to reveal his plan and take over the Brotherhood, Daxos was initially hesitant to side with him. However, he eventually agreed with the plan, and betrayed Miserix. Afterwards, he aided Krika in hiding their former leader on the island of Artidax, as they could not fully betray him.
Like all other Makuta, Daxos' Antidermis evolved to a gaseous virus-like state where he no longer required sleep or sustenance. Teridax ordered the Nynrah Ghosts to modify the Makuta's armor to accommodate this evolution.
Voya Nui[]
At some point, Daxos was ordered to research legends surrounding the Mask of Life. To achieve this end, he traveled across the Matoran Universe, eventually finding leads towards the island of Voya Nui. Exploring the region, he befriended Jovan, the local Turaga, and took a Matoran assistant named Velika. For many decades, he explored the region, ultimately discovering that the Ignika was said to lay dormant in Mount Valmai. Unable to explore the volcano, however, he could not retrieve the mask, and was forced to return to Teridax empty-handed. Before he left, Daxos gifted Velika with a Tablet of Transit, hoping the Matoran would join him on Destral. Unbeknownst to him, his assistant was secretly a Great Being in disguise, and took a small portion of the Makuta's Antidermis.
Great Cataclysm[]
1000 years ago, the Brotherhood of Makuta would finally set in motion Teridax's Grand Plan. The Makuta simultaneously launched an unexpected assault upon the processors of the Matoran Universe, disabling Mata Nui and causing the Great Spirit Robot to crash on Aqua Magna. With Mata Nui now absent and the Matoran Universe debilitated by Teridax's efforts, the Brotherhood revealed itself as a decidedly malevolent organization making a bid for universal domination.
Daxos, struck by a moral compass, attempted to find Teridax, who had disappeared following events in Metru Nui. Appealing to Icarax, who he assumed would know of Teridax's location, Daxos was betrayed by the warrior and pierced by his Protosteel Talons. His armor damaged, Daxos' Antidermis slowly destabilized, leading to his death.
Spherus Magna[]
Much later, Daxos would be resurrected by Velika on Spherus Magna, using the small portion of his Antidermis. This copy of Daxos was primarily based off of the Great Being's own perception of the Makuta, and held a markedly different personality than the original. The Makuta would join Velika's Empire and served as its public face, allowing the Great Being to keep suspicion away from him.

Alternate Versions[]
In the prime reality, Daxos initially sided with Miserix during the convocation, though he switched to support Teridax. As a result, he was executed by Icarax and Gorast. His Tryna was then hung in the Convocation Chamber as a trophy and warning to other Makuta.
Abilities and Traits[]
A religious Makuta, Daxos firmly believed in Mata Nui and various myths across the Matoran Universe. Further, he struggled with the Brotherhood's decent into villainy, and attempted to maintain an honorable demeanor. Uncertain about Teridax's plan, his decision to betray Miserix filled him with regret. During the Great Cataclysm, Daxos would eventually suffer a mental breakdown, incapable of standing by any longer.
The resurrected version of Daxos lost much of his honorable traits and was more arrogant and manipulative; this was a direct result of Velika's influence.
As a Makuta, Daxos possessed powerful elemental Shadow powers, along with other abilities that he had fully mastered over many centuries. His Shadow powers could even heal others, should Daxos feel it necessary. He was also known to possess shape-shifting abilities, Kraata production, great strength, and the forty-two Kraata powers.
Mask and Tools[]
For the majority of his life, Daxos wore a Great Tryna, the Mask of Reanimation. The Kanohi allowed him to animate the corpses of dead beings, commanding them to perform basic tasks until he lost concentration. While in Voya Nui, he was also known to utilize a Great Rau, the Mask of Translation.
Utilizing a wide arsenal of Protosteel weaponry over the centuries, Daxos primarily armed himself with a Broadsword, which also served as an offensive tool capable of channeling his Shadow powers. Prior to the Great Cataclysm, Daxos equipped himself with a Tridax Pod and Nynrah Ghost Blaster, though these tools were lost when he perished. The Tridax Pod allowed him to eject a pods of Shadow Leeches from his chest, though Daxos rarely used this ability. The Nynrah Ghost Blaster was a weapon that enabled him to take control of any mechanical object that he fired at, though the effect was temporary and faded over time. Further, Daxos' Ghost Blaster was a gift from the Nynrah Ghosts, and was customized to have a shield attached to the weapon. On Spherus Magna, Daxos utilized the Shadow Rapier, a small fencing sword that could channel his powers over Shadow. The Rapier served as a sidearm to his Broadsword, though he primarily used it as a cane.
