Dastro-IX or Defensive, Aggressive, and Sociable Tactical Robotic Operative Mark 9, is an is an Alpha-Class DASTRO Unit from the Altronia Continuity.
Biography[]
Dastro-IX was created by Makuta Rularx as the final unit in the Alpha Class of the DASTRO Series of robots. Dastro-IX served its time effectively, before being decommissioned in favor of Dastrox, the first of the emerging Beta Class.
During the attack on Rularx's fortress by the Order of Altronia and its allies, Dastro-IX was reactivated to join the conflict, and ended up in a furious battle with Yaltrax. The Hokanuka's servant eventually proved victorious, but not without heavy injury and a misfired rocket from the robot knocking him out of the fight for a time. Dastro-IX entered stasis lock to recover from its damages, and remained in that state until Crystal Island was engulfed by an out-of-control dimensional portal and drawn into another universe.

Abilities[]
- Strength: Dastro-IX is massively strong, more so than any other robot Rularx has yet created. Its strength is in the same league as Yaltrax, and is more physically formidable in some ways because its servomotors never tire.
- Durability: Dastro-IX is reinforced with thick Protosteel and Protodermis armor, making it highly resistant to damage.
- Tactical Algorithms: Dastro-IX was expressly designed to be a combat unit, and is effective in many forms of combat in many situations
- Flight: Dastro-IX possesses rocket thrusters in its feet, enabling it to take flight, although with very limited aerial maneuverability.
Tools[]
- Energized Sword: Dastro-IX carries a black protosteel sword that is capable of being encased in a sheath of energy, which can be discharged on a target upon impact for more damage.
- Rocket Launcher: Dastro-IX is equipped with a rocket launcher that fires a potentially endless supply of Exo-Toa-like electro-rockets, and is capable of firing a "bunker-busting" missile as well, but only carries one at a time.
Trivia[]
- Obadiah Stane's upgraded Mark 2 from the Iron Man movie was a major inspiration for his look.
- The "bunker buster" was inspired by the failed Hammertech missile War Machine fires in Iron Man 2, as well. Unlike that missile, Dastro-IX's bunker buster is actually highly dangerous.
