The Dark Shadow, formerly known as Carva, was the intended Great Spirit of the Matoran Universe in the Fragmented Universe. But she went rogue and enslaved the Glatorian, Agori, and Matoran, and attempted to to do the same in the Kraverse. The Great Beings were forced to fight her and managed to defeat her. They then imprisoned her in the Asylum.
History[]
Creation and Imprisonment[]
Over 102,000 years ago, Spherus Magna began to crack with Energized Protodermis due to the effects of the Core War. Planning to launch a robot with a new Universe of species into space in a desperate to find a way to repair Spherus Magna after it's in-avoidable destruction, the Great Beings created an artificial intelligent, known as Carva. They put her into their Prototype Robot and everything was fine until she became corrupted and began to enslave the inhabitants of the planet.
She also broke through the walls of the Universe to another dimension, the Kraverse, and attacked them, but the walls soon closed off from her.

The Great Beings found out what she was doing, they battled her, almost igniting the unstable Energized Protodermis that ran through the planet. They destroyed the Prototype Robot, but her spirit escaped and she created her own body. They eventually defeated her and locked her in a pocket universe, creating a prison around dubbed The Asylum. They sealed this Universe off and created twelve Power Stones and scattered six inside the Matoran Universe and the other six in the Kraverse.
The Great Beings disappeared after launching the Mata Nui robot and Spherus Magna's destruction.

Extremely arrogant, the Dark Shadow has no regard for anyone except herself and is willing to sacrifice anyone to achieve her goals. Her influence can corrupt the most pure in heart and can tempt the power hungry into following her.
Only wanting to be served, the Dark Shadow will betray anyone who helps her and will force anyone and everyone into submission with her crushing power.
The Great Beings gave her power over Shadow, Fire, Water, Plant Life, Stone, Earth and Ice, giving her the ability to manipulate almost anything around her, making her one of the most dangerous beings in existence.
