Crescent, otherwise known as "The Nightwatcher", is a freelancer on Spherus Magna. He formerly was part of the reformed Order of Mata Nui until he was possessed by Teridax and served as a member of the Infernal Legion.

Biography

Life before the War

1000 years before the Great Cataclysm War, Crescent was created by Mata Nui as a De-Matoran. He did maintenance on the Great Spirit Robot. As a De-Matoran, he used his limited elemental powers to maintain machinery in the Great Spirit Robot.

Crescent was enslaved during the time the Brotherhood of Makuta reigned the Matoran Universe. He was forced to co-create various mechanisms for the Brotherhood, however nothing came of the creations. Crescent was selected by Mata Nui to become a Toa and reform the Order of Mata Nui under Helryx.

Great Cataclysm War

As an Order of Mata Nui member, Crescent fought in the Great Cataclysm War. He dispatched several Makuta with the help of Eclipse and Solstice.

When the War was being won by the Brotherhood, the three Toa were easily overwhelmed. Crescent took serious damage as he protected Eclipse from an attack. Solstice managed to catch the Makuta off-guard with a perfectly timed lightning bolt, allowing Eclipse to deal the finishing blow.

Eclipse continued to fight against the Brotherhood of Makuta while Crescent disappeared. He reappeared in darker armour by the side of the Brotherhood of Makuta. Crescent kept his distance from the Order of Mata Nui and his former allies.

After the War

During a Skakdi clan war, Crescent was present when Infernal Legion wiped out one army in exchange for service from the other. Crescent briefly clashed with Eclipse and Solstice, surprising them easily overpowering the two Toa, but left his former friends alive.

Clash with Suram

Crescent attacked Suram while the former was on a mission to rescue Wira from the Infernal Legion. He was surprised at the Toa of Light's ability to keep up with him and detect his surprise attack. He defeated Uragan with ease when Suram lost focus.

He took Suram to see Wira with help from "Shadowplayer". He stood with "Shadowplayer" and Vicoran when they threatened the Council of Kehidupan and warned of Abaddon's return. Crescent returned Wira and Suram to the rest of the group.

Attack on Kehidupan

Crescent joined "Shadowplayer", Antroz and "Mach" when the Infernal Legion attacked Kehidupan. He fought against Suram, eventually becoming overpowered alongside Antroz when reinforcements from the Order of Mata Nui joined the battle. He retreated, then returned with "Shadowplayer" to find Artakha.

He watched the Order of Mata Nui interrogate Kormak, following Helryx until she met with Karzahni. Crescent learnt that Artkaha was on Aratakhas. He threatened "Shadowplayer" outside of Kehidupan to take him there.

Crescent distrusted the Vortixx, forcing him to lead the Shadow Toa to Artakha. "Shadowplayer" attempted to lead him astray, until Crescent attacked. They were interrupted by Yunak, who fought with Crescent. He escaped, and kidnapped Artakha after impaling "Shadowplayer" for betraying the Infernal Legion.

Completing the plan

Crescent joined Vicoran in attacking Helryx, Wira and Suram when they returned from Lautan. He kills a Ta-Matoran guard, then attacks the Toa of Light, easily defeating him. Briefly, Eclipse and Solstice stall the Shadow Toa before he overpowers them. Crescent assists Vicoran in capturing Wira before the Makuta takes him to the Core Processor room.

When Abaddon attacked the Order of Mata Nui, Crescent prevented Eclipse from interfering with the tyrant. He teleports the Toa away and then is ambushed by Suram. Crescent is overpowered by the Toa of Light and Antroz, who infers Crescent is someone else. He threatens the Toa but he defeated. He teleports away after his mask is damaged.

Freedom from possession

In the conflict between the Order of Mata Nui and the Infernal Legion, Crescent fought with Suram, and it was revealed that Teridax had taken possession of the Toa. He reflected on his time watching the Makuta fight against his friends and wondered what his destiny was. Suram was able to connect with Crescent's spirit until Teridax regained control.

Eventually, Crescent overpowered the Makuta's will and dispelled his spirit from his body. After Teridax possessed Abaddon's body and defeated Eclipse, Crescent fought against the Makuta and seemed to overpower him. The Toa of Sonics said goodbye to his long-time friend before Eclipse passed out. Although Teridax ended up besting the Toa, Crescent survived and migrated to Spherus Magna, under the moniker "The Nightwatcher".

Personality and traits

Crescent was valiant, noble to his cause. He exceeded all expectations made of him and took pride only in helping others. He showed courage and bravery when he entered the battlefield. Crescent preferred to fight alone, being able to unleash his full Elemental power without affecting his allies, though he was more than capable of working as a team.

Always focusing on the task at hand, Crescent ignored everything around him when in combat. He paid attention to his opponents and allies but didn't see the area he was fighting in or anything else. He also didn't pay any heed things irrelevant to the task at hand. After the War, Crescent has displayed little emotion. During his brief encounter with Eclipse and Solstice, Crescent hesitated before dealing the final blow.

Powers and equipment

Crescent was a master of Sonics, easily breaking Protosteel and even making some objects levitate. His control of sound was exceptional, rivalling that of a skilled Makuta.

As a Toa of Sonics Crescent wore the mask of Teleportation, Kualsi. His fighting skills were based around teleporting behind his opponent and launching aerial attacks. Crescent used his Lightning Sword to give the impression he was a Toa of Lightning.

After appearing with the Infernal Legion, Crescent's powers were primarily focused on shadow manipulation. He retained his powers as a Toa of Sonics but did not utilise these abilities. Use of his Shadow-Lightning Sword resulted in black electricity and waves of shadows. His elemental control over Shadow has disappeared since dispelling Teridax.

He continued to use his Kualsi to teleport in battles, though without the same frequency. Crescent used brute strength to overpower his opponents instead. He is able to teleport to places he cannot directly see.
