Canto
Preface

I have been an actor and an athlete in my lifetime. I never would have never seen in all my years I'd spend years behind a desk, penning a guide book. I have asked myself on more than one occasion, wouldn't a Chronicler be more suited to this? Yet, I found myself drawn deeper and deeper into the inner workings of this world.

The Canto Universe is a remarkably straightforward continuity, a shining beacon of stability among other fractured and broken timelines. Indeed, the word 'Canto' is an obscure word meaning 'a section of a large poem'. At a first glance, this alternate universe is just simply one of many extensions to Universe #2, or as some scholars foolishly say, Universe #1, yet this is not quite the case. There are simply too many deviating individuals and even entirely unique entities that exist in this reality. By discerning who is present and deviating in this universe, we can infer the Canto Universe to be the continuation of perhaps something else entirely; however, this is a matter that I will need to explain in greater detail in a later section.

I have separated this guide into two main sections, the first being a brief introduction into what makes this reality persist in the way that it does. While this universe may seem cut-and-dry at first glance, so much is hidden beneath its surface, invisible to the naked eye. The second portion is an almanac, which serves to gather as many terms as possible that may be unfamiliar to one looking to learn more about the Canto Universe. A novice researcher will hopefully find this likely, while seasoned analysts may still find use in this by having a readily accessible font of knowledge at their disposal.

My work is, of course, built upon my many predecessors. While I doubt I have accomplished much else seeing as I am not quite suited for this monumental task, I hope my scrutiny has conveyed the intricacies of the Canto Universe.

This project would not have been possible if it were not for the kind assistance of Artakha, Teridax, Bercilak, Rusalka, too many guest contributors to list, the legions of editors and translators, and the tireless publishing team that have supported me from day one. Naming all of you would take an entire volume, so I suppose this will have to do.
