Title Mask of Locating

Composite Disks Three Teleport, One Enlarge
Pronunciation kah-NAIR-ah

The Kanohi Canera was the Mask of Locating. It allowed its user to locate a being or other living thing they had previously "bonded with". Bonding, a prerequisite to locating, was accomplished by touching a living thing and activating the mask, forming a psionic connection. By default, bonds lasted for around a day, but repeated bonds eventually became "stored" in the mask and wouldn't expire. The more bonds the user wished to store, however, the more they would need to practice with the mask.

Once a target was bonded with, the user could activate the mask again to gain an extrasensory awareness of the target's direction and distance relative to the user. Although this sense could be translated into objective measurements and coordinates, its accuracy decreased if the target was too far away. Because it was limited only to living beings, the user could also form bonds with Rahi and plant life.

The user could not locate a target if it was in another dimension, and the death of a target would break the bond entirely. These, of course, could still give the user information about the target's status.

Trivia[]

  • The mask's name is derived from the word canid, as many members of the family Canidae are notable for their tracking abilities.
  • Although the Canera possessed a Psionics-involved power, it was not possible to perform its power with one's own elemental Psionics power, unlike the Suletu and Komau.
  • Anyone is free to include this mask in their pages and creative works, and add to this page's Wearers section.
