Botar was a Glykovian and member of the Order of Mata Nui. His primary job was to transport all kinds of dangerous criminals to the Pit.

Biography[]

Early Life[]

Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. Botar was created during this early period in Matoran Universe history, originating from the Glykovian species, a race of savage warriors. At this point in is life, Botar served as a guardian against potential external threats to the Matoran Universe, situating himself in the Southern Island Chain, where the majority of his species resided.

Order of Mata Nui[]

Joining the covert Order of Mata Nui, Botar endeavored to balance the universe in a time after the Toa became a unified entity, notably using his Teleportation powers to transport especially dangerous criminals to the Pit, a covert Order of Mata Nui detention center.

80,000 years ago, the League of Six Kingdoms began its conquest of rapid expansion across the Matoran Universe, claiming a number of strategic islands in their campaign to overthrow Mata Nui. While the Brotherhood of Makuta and Toa forces were able to subdue the League of Six Kingdoms and capture their leaders, the Order of Mata Nui was forced to intervene, dispatching Botar to teleport the Barraki warlords away from Makuta Teridax so they could be imprisoned in The Pit for their crimes against Mata Nui.

With the malicious nature of the Brotherhood coming to light, the Order of Mata Nui's scientists would covertly modify members of the Aquavian species, equipping the species with Protosteel talons and genetic enhancements in the hopes of breeding a legion of warriors capable of overwhelming Makuta. In the months after the Great Disruption, Makuta Icarax was notably targeted by the Order and one such Aquavian was dispatched to assassinate him under the orders of Botar. Overpowering and killing his would-be murderer, however, the Makuta grew wise to the attempt on his life and began to speculate that the attack was part of a larger plot. Since the assassin's blades were forged of Protosteel, Icarax would come to interrogate many Nynrah Ghosts over his lifetime, searching for their originator.

Alternate Versions[]

The Unveiling[]

Botar appeared with Nalek on many missions before he was killed by Icarax.

The Fairon Chronicles[]

Botar appeared in The Fairon Chronicles right after Fairon and Rantu saved the matoran of Robotopolis from their deaths. He and Helryx helped to clean up the mess, and then he teleported Fairon and Rantu to Velnax's location.

Abilities and Traits[]

Unfettered by the constraints of morality, Botar was fiercely loyal to the Order of Mata Nui, making him one of Helryx's most valuable and trusted lieutenants.

As a member of the Glykovian species, Botoar possessed the tallest natural frame of any other species inhabiting the Matoran Universe. His hideous and intimidating features would often shock or frighten especially weak opponents into submission. His physique was also extremely durable, capable of withstanding devastating blows. His teeth and claws were capable of tearing through most substances.

Botar possessed the ability to teleport across the Matoran Universe with tremendous ease, often transporting himself and others great distances. As such, Botar's principle duty was to transport especially transgressive criminals to The Pit.

As an operative of the Order of Mata Nui, Botar also underwent intensive training to shield his mind from Telepathic influence.
