Bionicritical is a review series by Echo 1. It surrounds Echo, a Toa of Fire, reviewing BIONICLE fanfiction stories, usually from Custom BIONICLE Wiki, though he also reviews stories from other sites such as deviantART. The series is currently on hiatus.

Format

Early Episodes

The series involves CBW articles, MOCs, art, or stories being reviewed by Echo 1. Every now, and then, though, he reviews non-Bionicle fanfics and material of his choice. His voice is accompanied by a sprite of Echo showing emotions related to Echo 1's comments. It also has a song being used as a sort of 'theme' for the episode, which is played at the opening and closing of the episode.

In the credits, Echo 1 often has a humorous title before his name, such as "Unafraid to Offend" or "Dislikes Spiders".

Later Episodes

After the release of the third episode, Jman98 took over the production of the episodes. The sprite was replaced with Jman98's version of Echo, along with a new, standard opening. The show also received an unofficial theme song: "Kumo Rocks," from the Bionicle Power Pack CD.

Style

Echo 1 usually provides critical points in stories, often criticizing plot points or errors, concepts that don't seem "realistic" (realistic by the setting of the story, not real life).

Running Gags

• Echo 1 often sarcastically compares stories to his novel Quest for the Masks
• Sturgeon's law is brought up quite often.
• Echo 1 sarcastically rants about his 'amazing MOCing abilities' in MOC reviews.

• Audio from the show's fifth episode was featured in the ninth episode of MATA, another series on Custom BIONICLE, as a reference and nod to Bionicritical.
