The Battle of Rhagard took place at and within the City of Rhagard and was the climactic final battle of the original comic trilogy, concluding the events of Elegy.
Preparations[]
After being forcefully exiled by Nuva, the former residents of Rhagard moved to a nearby location to regroup and gather their forces. After acquiring the help of the Forgotten Warriors and a group of Skakdi lead by Kalvost, the group developed a plan of attack at night, with the help of the restored former leader Lorani.
The Battle[]
The group set out to attack the city in three waves - with the Toa splitting into two groups and a third being made from the Skakdi allies. The latter would launch a disk of power directly at Nuva when they eventually got close enough, hopefully either destroying or incapacitating him. The Matoran lead by Lorani would stay behind and get ready to leave the island should the strike team fail.
However, the Skakdi launched the disk of power way earlier than planned, tearing the first platform of Rhagard apart and killing most of the Matoran there. This lead Nuva to unleash his Forgotten-Warrior-Virus for a final time, reviving the fallen bodies. Thus, the direct way to Nuva was blocked and a battle with renewed Forgotten-Warrior-like beings began in front of the heavily damaged city.
Multiple groups then tried to break through to Nuva himself; but each was swiftly defeated. With the strength of the strike team slowly dwindling Lorani gave the word to execute their contingency plan, seeing the battle lost.
As a final push Aescela, Ridor and Pauto scrambled together a vehicle from scrap parts and drove right through the battle and into the city, where they surprised Nuva and hit him directly. With the combined effort of the three Matoran they were able to defeat Nuva, with Aescela using her blade to destroy the ancient being for good.
Aftermath[]
With Aescela's life force fading after being hit directly by the ancient energy emerging from Nuva's destruction, Berwak sacrificed his Toa-powers and fulfilled his destiny, becoming a Turaga.
The fallen were buried next to the city, with some of them being taken to the Farside Village. A monument to the losses was build on the grave.
The survivors of the the battle then left the destroyed Rhagard for good, leaving the fortress to be reclaimed by the nature surrounding it.
