Balta is a Toa of Fire and the leader of the Toa Voyoka.
Biography[]
Balta was created along with all other Matoran to work inside the body of the Mata Nui robot to keep it functioning. When he began to have problems with his ability to work properly, he was sent to Karzahni to be repaired. However, he was weakened during the rebuilding process, and was sent to live on the Southern Continent.
During the Great Cataclysm, the area on the Continent where Balta lived broke through to the surface of Aqua Magna, becoming the island of Voya Nui.
In 1,000 AGC, Balta and the other Voya Nui Matoran learned of the supposed arrival of a group of Toa. However, Balta learned that the "Toa" in question were in fact a band of rogue Dark Hunters calling themselves the Piraka, and he and five other Matoran formed the Voya Nui Resistance Team. Aided by the Toa Inika, the Resistance fought the Piraka until they disappeared from Voya Nui.
After the Toa Spedoka departed to another universe to search for Teridax, the members of the Voya Nui Resistance team were transformed into the Toa Voyaka and were sent to find them, traveling to another universe. After encountering Mutoka, who stole a Spear of Fusion and Balta's Kiril, they watched as planets began to spontaneously collide, and so to protect themselves, the Toa team hid in dimensional canisters.
They later met up with the Toa Spedoka in a parallel Metru Nui, where they related their adventures, and Balta revealed that he had read on Mutoka's preparation scroll that Mutoka wished to attack multiple parallel universes. After deciding that they were to fight back and attempt to kill Mutoka, the Toa Voyaka charged into battle. After sealing Kirika in a Protodermis cage, they found a piece of the Kanohi Ignika, but upon its release of energy into the sky, Balta and Kazi's spirits were sent to another world.
Upon watching Mata Nui fight four beings, they returned to their bodies to find that Dalu and Piruk had been captured by an enemy caravan. After taking a large Sand Stalker to Crystal Cave, they rescued their teammates, but fell into a deep hole, accidentally discovering where their enemies were hiding. However, they arrived too late to stop Fallen from donning the Ignika, and they were about to be killed when they were rescued by Shata.
They later returned to Metru Nui.
Abilities and traits[]
Like all Toa of his element, Balta is in full control of Fire. He once wore a Kanohi Kiril, but it was stolen from him by Mutoka. What mask he wears now is unknown.
