The Kanohi Aupaki is the Mask of Stasis Fields. Its usage is widespread, and it is classified as an Energy power.

The Kanohi Aupaki allows the wearer to trap a target in stasis. The stasis field does not collapse if the wearer loses concentration, though it will collapse if the user is separated from the mask. Otherwise, the wearer must choose to free the target.

While it is not considered an immoral mask, the Kanohi Aupaki is strongly associated with the Brotherhood of Makuta, who commonly equip the jailers of their fortresses with this mask. As such, long-term stasis fields created by this mask are considered to be immoral, while use of the mask for short term stasis fields is not frowned upon in the same way.

History

As society within the Matoran Universe blossomed and expanded following the Great Spirit Robot's launch, mask makers across the universe honed and refined their skills and began to craft new designs. These masks were not neccessarily as directly relevant to the maintenance of the Great Spirit, but served some now-lost purpose within the newly born civilization.

The Kanohi Aupaki was one such mask. Developed with the intention of replicating the natural ability of Makuta to create stasis fields, the Kanohi Aupaki was created as a tool for Toa and other figures of local justice or law enforcement to quickly end a pursuit or battle.

Like the Brotherhood of Makuta had done in times past, the Toa Empire equip many of their regime's jailers with the Kanohi Aupaki.
