"Take a domestic Sand Fox into the wilderness and he learns to live like a Wasteland Wolf quickly enough."
―Atakus reciting one of Velika's riddles, Way of the Lawless.

Atakus was an Agori servant of the Rock Tribe and informant of Velika.

History[]

Early Life[]

Similarly to all other members of his species, Atakus began his life on Spherus Magna roughly 150,000 years ago. The Agori was later employed as a servant of the Element Lord of Rock and resided within his fortress during his service.

By the time of the Core War, Atakus came to participate in the combat sparingly, reinforcing the Skrall warriors on behalf of the Rock Tribe. As such, Atakus spent the earliest years of his career defending the Rock Tribe capital and providing occasional auxiliary support for Stronius' forces.

During this time, Atakus was known to have become a servant of Velika, an eccentric Great Being who would go on to reside in the Great Spirit Robot. Notably, Velika gifted Atakus with a set of Tribal Design Blades.

With Energized Protodermis reserves in the planet's core losing stability as a symptom of increased mining activity and depletion of natural reserves, a planet-wide shockwave known as The Shattering was known to have been triggered, causing planetary fragmentation and propelling to large chunks of the planet away from the surface. Participating in a battle in the central belt of Spherus Magna, Atakus was among the multitude of combatants who would become trapped in northern Bara Magna and was cut off from his homeland in the Bota Magna region.

Skrall Fortress[]

In the aftermath of the Shattering, Atakus came to settle in a Skrall Fortress in the Black Spike Mountains, serving the Rock Tribe under the leadership of Tuma. Through his role as a Gate Guard, Atakus became privy to the everyday operations of the Fortress whilst continuing to feed information on the Baterra and the geological integrity of Bara Magna back to Velika.

During this time, Atakus led a Skrall patrol to an abandoned research facility that had at one time been maintained by the Great Beings. Securing the site for Velika and destroying records that may have incriminated his patron, Atakus was rewarded with a pair of glowing Skrall Tribal Design Blades, which he used to defend himself while monitoring the Baterra.

After a series of encounters between Baterra and Skrall patrols, Atakus would unknowingly oversee the transportation of camouflaged Baterra past the defenses of Skrall Fortress. As a result, the Baterra besieged the Skrall outpost, forcing the Rock Tribe to migrate south into the desert of Bara Magna.

Bara Magna[]

Accompanying the Skrall as they migrated south, Atakus resettled in Roxtus with the survivors of the Rock Tribe. Learning of the Agori social system in place in the southern regions of Bara Magna, Tuma began ruthlessly challenging the neighboring tribes for any supplies and resources that were uncovered, putting forward Skrall warriors into arena matches and outclassing a number of younger Glatorian. During this time, Atakus acted as a liaison and ambassador, often accompanying Skrall to arena matches to Vulcanus and Atero. With the Rock Tribe expanding aggressively and poised for conquest, Atakus facilitated a number of Skrall victories in the arena by researching the moves of each Glatorian combatant before a match and relaying his findings to the Skrall warriors. During this time, Atakus began a correspondence with Perditus of the Fire Tribe, a fellow informant of the mysterious Great Being.

Three months ago, Atakus accompanied a Skrall patrol in the eastern region of the Great Barren while they searched for new territory to conquer. In secret, Atakus secretly accompanied the patrol in order to locate the Citadel of the Great Beings, which was marked on an ancient map predating the Shattering. After riding through the night, however, the patrol was ambushed by Malum and a pack of Vorox. Exhausted from their journey, the Skrall were swiftly dispatched by the Vorox and Atakus was taken captive. After considerable questioning, the Agori eventually surrendered his map and offered the exile several cryptic remarks about the journey he was about to embark on. Left with his weapons, Atakus was abandoned in the Wastelands while Malum and his compatriots continued east.

Traveling north on foot, Atakus eventually came across a way-station, where he reconvened with Perditus, who had also been attacked by Malum during his journey. Saved from dehydration, Atakus discussed events that were predicted to occur in the coming months whist neglecting to inform the Glatorian of the Rock Tribe's wider ambitions.

Several months later, the Rock Tribe would launch a Skrall Invasion on Atero, besieging the city on the morning of the Great Tournament and claiming the ancient city in an act of open aggression against the other tribes. As a direct result, the Skrall would form an alliance with the Bone Hunters, a faction of Rock Agori that had splintered off from the Rock Army following the Shattering. During this period of rapid expansion of open hostility towards the other tribes, Atakus continued his work for the Great Being. Most notably, he found himself tasked with locating the Spirit's Wish, the Laboratory of the Great Beings, and Marendar's Prison, locations that would prove useful to Velika. Whether or not Atakus succeeded in securing these locations remains unclear.

After several months, the balance of power on Bara Magna would once again shift, following the arrival of Mata Nui. Intent on reclaiming the structural components of the Prototype Matoran Universe buried beneath the city, Mata Nui would defeat Tuma and lead the Agori during the Battle of Roxtus. Without Tuma to helm the Skrall defenses, the unified Agori and Glatorian movement eventually won Roxtus, bulldozing over the Skrall and Bone Hunters whilst suffering minimal losses and winning a decisive victory, driving the Rock Tribe out into the Wastelands. Participating in the Battle of Roxtus, Atakus would later report on the events to Velika, conveying the assembly of the six villages of Bara Magna into the Prototype Great Spirit Robot.

To Be Added

Abilities and Traits[]

"It strikes me you know a great deal more than you let on about the Great Beings, Atakus of the Rock Tribe. But I wonder which set of secrets you are more willing to part with in exchange for your life?"
―Malum threatening Atakus, Way of the Lawless.

Fiercely loyal to the Rock Tribe, Atakus served the Skrall with tremendous eagerness. In particular, he was known to admire Stronius, often shadowing the warrior in hopes of improving his fighting skills and earning the trust of his idol. Atakus also swore fealty to Velika at some point during the Core War, believing him to be the last surviving Great Being and ally to the Rock Tribe.

As a member of the Agori species, Atakus was completely organic with some mechanical implants. As such, he did not possess any elemental affiliations or the ability to use a Kanohi mask.

Tools[]

Primarily, Atakus wielded a pair of Skrall Tribal Design Blades, which bore arcane symbols rooted in Rock Tribe culture and Great Being technology. These weapons were gifted to Atakus by Velika as a reward for his service. These blades served a further purpose of excluding the wielder from the targeting of the Baterra.

Quotes[]

"It is true, I travel across Bara Magna in search of the Great Beings. Imagine the countless weapons, machines, philosophies, and technologies that Agori and Skrall alike have invented only to be relegated to obscurity because some treasure-seeker unearthed the older, superior method of achieving the same end. Who knows what heights we might have been attained had we not been so eager to recreate the follies of our ancestors?"
―Atakus, Way of the Lawless.
