Toa Arker is a Toa of Magnetism residing on the Northern Continent. Previously the Captain of the Guard, he was transformed by Toa Drax, and is now the Toa of his home village on the Northern Continent. But, he longs for something greater, feeling his destiny is not complete.

History[]

Early Life[]

Like all Fa-Matoran, Arker began his life on Spherus Magna, and aided in the construction of the Matoran Universe at the height of the Core War. After its completion, he and the rest of the Matoran were placed on the various islands of the new universe to work and maintain the Great Spirit Mata Nui. Arker himself was placed on the Northern Continent, eventually settling in a village with many other Matoran. Around 50,000 years ago, Arker was appointed as Captain of the Guard after the previous holder was killed by a Muaka. He was hesitant to take the post, but eventually accepted his duty at the urging of Turaga Aph.

Captain of the Guard[]

With no Toa to protect them, the duty of protecting the village fell sharply on Arker and those he entrusted as his deputies. They mostly had to face off wild Rahi, but over time, Dark Hunters and other bounty hunters made their way to the village in search of leads on their bounties. Arker, with the help of Turaga Aph, was able to steer them away from their village.

Around 30,000 years ago, Drax, Toa of Plasma, and his team came to their village. He was in pursuit of a team of Skakdi who had stolen a mythical elemental stone from the Toa Fortress. The Matoran hadn't seen him, and so the Toa went on their way. That night, the group of Skakdi appeared in the village and demanded their resources before they escaped the continent, threatening them with the elemental stone. Arker stood against the Skakdi long enough for Drax and the rest of the Toa to arrive and stop the Skakdi.

When the Toa left the continent with the Skakdi and the stone, Drax stayed behind to defend the village. Drax stayed as the guardian of the village for many years, taking Arker on as his protégé. Eventually, Drax decided it was time to give up his Toa Power, and chose Arker to inherit his power. Like before, Arker was hesitant of the responsiblity, but eventually accepted this honor.

Once Arker became a Toa, Turaga Drax left the village to take a position on the Turaga High Council in Metru Nui after being summoned by Turaga Dume. Drax told Arker that they would see each other again, once Arker found his destiny. Once the Turaga left, Arker was once again alone as the sole protector of his village. Arker adopted a wild Kikanalo and trained it as his steed and friend, which he used to make patrols around the continent, looking out for Dark Hunters and other dangers. Arker believes he has a greater purpose than simply being the guardian of his village, and longs for the day that destiny comes looking for him, but also fears the day it does.

Abilities and Traits[]

Arker is noble and desires to do the right thing. However, despite his intentions, he often fails to attack when he's needed most out of fear of failure or other hesitation. Having spent his entire life in the same village, Arker doesn't know much of the outside world other than what he has heard, but longs to explore it. He loves his home and his village, but he also knows he belongs out in the universe. He knows his destiny is out there, and he knows he isn't supposed to find it alone.

Arker is fiercely loyal. Despite his reluctance to serve as Captain of the Guard and later Toa, he knew they were the right things to do. He wants to make sure those around him are safe, even if it comes at a personal cost to him. He worries that if he does leave his village, it will be unprotected and unable to survive without him.

Like all Toa of Magnetism, Arker has a naturally affinity for magnetic fields and is naturally attuned to the poles of the universe, making him an excellent navigator. He has the ability to generate magnetic fields and manipulate them, as well as magnetizing objects and using them to his will. He is also able to generate brief, but damaging, electric currents.

Masks and Tools[]

Arker bears a Great Mask of Possibilities, which was strangely forged in the shape of a Great Kakama Nuva. With it, he is able to see the possible outcomes of a situation and either increase or decrease the probability of something occurring. He thinks it is a strange and even useless mask.

Arker carries the Lodestone Sword, which formed when his twin Voltage Blades combined during his transformation into a Toa. With it, Arker can channel his elemental powers and better hone his abilities, as well as generate greater blasts of electricity.

  • Arker has been the main protagonist of Invader39's stories since his creation in 2011. He was the protagonist of "The Order Trilogy," a series comprising of the three series The Order of Mata Nui, The Order at War, and The Order of Heroes. He was later the protagonist of the Unending Shadows Storyline, appearing in the majority of the stories in that saga.
  • Arker was originally conceived as and has consistently served as Invader39's self-MOC, but in recent years Invader39 has grown dissatisfied with Aker serving this role, or having a self-MOC at all. But, Arker still serves as Invader39's representative.
  • The portrayal of this version of Arker is based on a short story Invader39 planned to write in 2013 featuring an alternate version of Arker than the one who was starring in the Unending Shadows Storyline.
  • Aspects of Arker's story and character are carried over from previous iterations, but with changes and adjustments to reflect the more than 10 years of development of the character.
