Arbiters were a species inhabiting the southern regions of the Matoran Universe.
Biography[]
Shortly after the successful departure of the Great Spirit Robot from Spherus Magna, Mata Nui became somewhat overeager with the creation of new species to serve additional functions, resulting in the plethora of different species that would come to inhabit the Matoran Universe. The Arbiter species was one such creation.
Initially created with the intention of serving as healers and guardians, the Arbiters were given the ability to cure mental ailments so as to repair the minds of dysfunctional beings. As such, many Arbiters traveled the Matoran Universe, searching for key settlements to watch over whilst a large bulk of the species' population remained in their homeland, where they notably interacted with the Matoran Universe's largest Ce-Matoran population.
During this period, the Arbiters began to place themselves in Matoran settlements, where they oversaw the daily routines of Matoran villagers. Gradually, Arbiters became increasingly prominent and would occasionally provide moral leadership in villages absent of Turaga. Although he abandoned the Arbiter principles so as to serve the Order of Mata Nui, Axonn continued to oversee the local Matoran population in Voya Nui, occasionally correcting any instances of mental impurity that he encountered.
Although they spread somewhat prominently throughout the Matoran Universe, there was never an established Arbiter presence in Metru Nui.
Unfortunately, many of the Arbiters were slain by some rogue members of Takadox’s species, who were covertly assisted by the Brotherhood of Makuta, who maintained an interest in being able to permanently cripple their enemies’ minds.
Abilities and Traits[]
As a species, the Arbiters possessed massive physical strength, able to knock over entire buildings when enraged. They have also been shown to have the ability to shoot electrical energy from their hands.
The Arbiter species was also a telepathically-enabled one, capable of curing mental ailments so as to repair the minds of dysfunctional beings through touch.
Arbiters were also trained to block their minds from all unwanted intrusion, be it from telepathic attack or Makuta antidermis.
