Ahkmou was a Po-Matoran, one of the six Matoran who knew the location of a Great Disk, servant of Teridax and Onewa's long-time rival.

History[]

Early Life[]

As a Po-Matoran, Ahkmou began his life on Spherus Magna, where he aided in the construction of the Matoran Universe. He was later placed in Po-Metru with a small community of Matoran.

Ahkmou gravitated towards a career as a builder, desiring to make a name for himself as a prominent Carver in the early stages of the world's development. Despite receiving training from Onewa, one of the most prominent Carvers in Po-Metru, Ahkmou failed to live up to his mentor's expectations and sought training elsewhere. Eventually rising to a position of moderate acclaim in the carving community, Ahkmou came to regard Onewa as a competitor rather than a contemporary and often lost commissions to his former mentor.

During this period of his life, Ahkmou would form a friendship with a Ko-Matoran named Ehrye, who aspired to become a respected Seer in the Knowledge Towers of Ko-Metru. Instead, Ehyre was relegated to the role of Runner, begrudgingly relaying messages between Seers. Airing their grievances together, Ahkmou and Ehrye would often play Alkini together.

With universal attitudes towards Toa growing increasingly contentious, the Dark Hunters made a number of attempts to seize a regional foothold in Metru Nui, which ultimately resulted in the organization declaring war on the Toa by invading the northern-most island in the Matoran Universe. Arming himself with a Kanoka Disk Launcher, Ahkmou took shelter from the conflict alongside his Po-Matoran neighbors, staying out of the line of fire and evading the Dark Hunter anarchists.

Metru Nui[]

Ahkmou on Metru Nui

3000 years after the Toa/Dark Hunter War, the Morbuzakh began to terrorize the island of Metru Nui, infesting and overriding districts and destroying parts of the city. During this time, the whereabouts of the Po-Metru Great Disk fell into Ahkmou's possession. Approached by Nidhiki and Krekka, two Dark Hunters sent to Metru Nui and tasked with claiming the Great Disks themselves, Ahkmou was coerced into contacting Nuhrii, Vhisola, Tehutti, Orkahm and Ehrye, who had similarly discovered the locations of their respective Great Disks. Promising each Matoran knowledge that would allow them to use their Great Disks for personal advancement, Ahkmou lured the Matoran into abandoned sites across Metru Nui, setting them each up as a target of the Dark Hunters.

Growing wise to the Dark Hunter's scheme, however, Toa Lhikan would sacrifice his Toa Power to create the Toa Metru: Vakama, Nokama, Whenua, Matau, Nuju and Onewa. Newly-transformed into a Toa of Stone, Onewa discovered that Ahkmou had learnt the location of the Po-Metru Great Disk and investigated the disappearance of his former student, eventually finding Ahkmou on top of a large sculpture in the Po-Metru Sculpture Fields. Aware that Ahkmou often climbed sculptures like that one for fun, Onewa grew suspicious of Ahkmou, who tried to flee to Chute Station 445, the busiest transport hub in Po-Metru, as a carved message left by Nidhiki on top of the sculpture had suggested. Onewa saw the message as well and caught Ahkmou at the chute station before he could escape. It was when Onewa caught a glimpse of Nidhiki, watching from the shadows, that he began to understand and Ahkmou reluctantly agreed to side with Onewa.

Reconvening with the Toa Metru and six missing Matoran, the Toa made clear their plans to use the Great Disks to stop the Morbuzakh from destroying the city. Holding private concerns that one of the Matoran was working for the Dark Hunters, however, the Toa suspected that one of the Matoran set the others up, and after discussing all the clues they had noticed, they realized it was most likely Ahkmou. Because all six of the Matoran were still needed, they agreed to keep that suspicion quiet for the moment.

Sticking with Onewa, Ahkmou and his cohort were paired with Nuhrii and Toa Vakama and journeyed to temperamental Fire Pit that had been closed off by Vahki. Slipping past the barriers, Nuhrii and Vakama descended down to retrieve the Great Disk, which was nestled in a crevice deep within the structure. Assaulted by a Morbuzakh vine, however, Vakama was forced to use a Reconstitute at Random Kanoka in order to free himself and Nuhrii from capture. Eventually retrieving their quarry, Nuhrii and Vakama were able to escape the Fire Pit and reconvene with Onewa and Ahkmou more before traveling to Po-Metru.

Comic Onewa Metru and Ahkmou

Onewa confronting Ahkmou

Traveling to Po-Metru, Onewa and Vakama encountered a Tunneller on the rampage. Striking the Rahi with his elemental energies, Vakama inadvertently allowed it to adapt and reconfigure its form from his Fire powers. Working together, the two Toa were able to trick the Tunneller into replicating a form made of glass, putting an end to its rampage. Accompanying Vakama to the Sculpture Fields, Onewa ascended an unstable structure at Ahkmou's and recovered the Po-Metru Great Disk.

When the Toa Metru retrieved all six Disks, they traveled with their respective Matoran to the Great Furnace to confront the Morbuzakh. With the Toa soon finding themselves overpowered, the Matoran were forced to fend for themselves using Kanoka Disks to limited effect. Proposing that the Matoran join forces, Tehutti recounted an ancient stone tablet he had once stumbled upon in the Archives, detailing the formation of a Matoran Fusion. Joining hands, Ahkmou was able to form a powerful mental link with his five compatriots, allowing them to merge into one and form the first Matoran Nui seen in Metru Nui for 100,000 years. As such, the Kaita staved off the Morbuzakh long enough for the Toa to escape down to the Great Furnace and confront the King Root. Once the Toa had entered the central chamber and the immediate threat of Morbuzakh vines had been dealt with, the Matoran Nui defused and Ahkmou refused to rejoin. From this unique vantage point, he witnessed the defeat of the King Root and the subsequent destruction of the Morbuzakh across Metru Nui.

A matter of weeks later, notably after the Toa Metru had been branded fugitives of the law and the Matoran had turned on them, Ahkmou was summoned to the Coliseum by the Vahki, along with the rest of the population of Metru Nui. Once he arrived, Ahkmou was confronted by a squadron of Vahki and placed inside a Matoran Sphere, his anxieties of rogue automation fully realized. Entering into a comatose state, Ahkmou became dormant and was rendered unable to carry out his task of maintaining Po-Metru. With the entire population of the island similarly incapacitated, Teridax set in motion a chain of events that debilitated the Great Spirit Robot and transferred the seat of power to himself.

During his time inside the sphere, his body reduced in size, and all his previous memories were erased. Ahkmou's size and physical strength were also reduced as a consequence of his Matoran Sphere.

Notably, Ahkmou's Matoran Sphere was one of six that were transported through the Great Barrier by the Toa Metru aboard a Vahki Transporter. During a battle with Mavrah and his Rahi, Ahkmou's Matoran Sphere was knocked loose and sank to the bottom of the ocean, where he remained for some time.

Makuta would later recover Ahkmou's Matoran Pod from beneath the Silver Sea using his Magnetism powers. Releasing the Po-Matoran from his comatose state and finding he had no memory of his past, Makuta was able to earn Ahkmou's trust and tell him the history of Metru Nui from his perspective. Growing to resent the Toa Metru and his fellow Matoran, Ahkmou came to serve as Makuta's secret acolyte on Mata Nui.

Mata Nui[]

Teridax sent Ahkmou to Mata Nui to secretly work for him as a trader in Po-Koro. Ahkmou came into the Po-Koro community as a latecomer, but none of the other Matoran ever questioned his sudden appearance, as it was at the period of time where all of their memories would still turn out to be fuzzy. Ahkmou’s body had shrunk along with all of the other Matoran as a result of being in his sphere for too long. When Turaga Onewa realized what Ahkmou knew, he sternly told Ahkmou not to reveal any of Metru Nui’s secrets to any of the Matoran.

Once in Po-Koro, Ahkmou attempted to make a living by selling “lucky Ghekula” to superstitious Matoran. Turaga Onewa put a stop to this. Ahkmou later sold Kolhii balls infected with Makuta’s influence, called Comets, to the Po-Matoran of Po-Koro. The Comets spread an illness among the Po-Matoran, and much of the Po-Koro population fell ill.

Thanks to Takua the Chronicler, however, the source of the infected Kolhii balls was discovered in a Nui-Jaga nest inside a quarry. Toa Pohatu destroyed the infected Kolhii balls within the nest, and the remaining ones were dumped in the sea. Ahkmou abandoned his Comet-selling business at this point, apparently wishing to try his hand at fishing (according to the sign he left on his kiosk in Po-Koro.)

After some time, Ahkmou returned to Po-Koro. At this point, Turaga Onewa knew that Ahkmou was allied with Makuta. The Bohrok swarm must have scared Ahkmou into abandoning his service to Teridax, for after that time, he did not try to enact any more schemes.

After the Toa Nuva defeated the Bohrok-Kal, Ahkmou’s body changed to a larger, more agile shape along with all the other Matoran using the Turaga’s knowledge of reconstruction. Ahkmou continued to work as a shopkeeper in Po-Koro, and did not try any more heists.

Reign of Shadows[]

After Teridax's apparent death, he, along with the other Mata Nui Matoran, went back to Metru Nui. Makuta Icarax was supposed to hit Ahkmou with a Shadow Leech, but instead, the leech hit Takanuva.

After Teridax took over the Matoran Universe, Ahkmou was made the "Turaga" of Metru Nui. During his rule, he forced the Po-Matoran to create statues of Teridax and banned any unauthorized art. After Teridax's death he evacuated the Matoran Universe and is currently living on Spherus Magna.

Alternate versions[]

Dark Mirror[]

In the Parallel Universe, Ahkmou was a member of the resistance against Tuyet. During the battle, Ahkmou assisted Krakua in killing Gali, but was then frozen by Kopaka and smashed by Onua.

Abilities and Traits[]

Shifty and devious, Ahkmou always sided with whomever he thought would get him ahead. Involved in a number of schemes and power-grabs by those on the evil side, he had a certain knack for not being caught. He egotistically thought himself to be more important than anyone else.

As a Po-Matoran, Ahkmou possessed the vestiges of dormant elemental Stone energy, which manifested in greater physical strength and endurance compared to other Matoran.

Powers and Tools[]

While residing on Metru Nui, Ahkmou was known to wield a Kanoka Disk Launcher, favoring a mid-ranged Regeneration Kanoka valued at 373, which he used to repair carvings and erase mistakes.
