Abyssal Knights were a subspecies of Demon created by Syverr and used as basic infantry by Demonic forces in the Seeds of Madness Alternate Universe.
History[]
Origins[]
During the First Era of Peace, Syverr and his scientists began perfecting new breeds of Demons, including the massive Abyssal Juggernauts, and the Abyssal Knights. The Knights were created to serve as effective infantry for Nocturnus' army
The Shadow War[]
During the Shadow War, Syverr discovered that the Obsidian Obelisk Nocturnus had been entombed in during the First Abyssal Invasion could be broken if, when the Avatars were sufficiently weakened, the Obelisk was hit with a concentrated blast of Shadow energy. At the end of the Shadow War, Syverr was able to free Nocturnus, and renew the battle against the Avatars. Abyssal Knights were among the Demons committed to the assault.
The Second Abyssal Invasion[]
During the Second Abyssal Invasion, the Demons were able to steadily push back the Avatars' forces. However, after the initial battles, the Avatars were able to cut the Demonic off from the Abyss, preventing reinforcements from reaching the Abyssal lines. Ultimately, the attack to open a second portal was defeated, and Nocturnus gathered hi remaining forces for a final attack on the Avatars. As the Demons closed in on the last pockets of resistance, the Avatars of Life and Death combined their life forces to trap the Demonic armies in a pocket dimension, with only Xithax and a few other Demons escaping.
Abilities and Traits[]
Abyssal Knights served as the primary infantry for the Demonic armies, and were often encountered in squads. Knights fought using pole-arms and blades, as well as shields and armor for defense. In addition, Abyssal Knights often appeared in more specialized variants, such as ranged combatants, berserkers, and commandos.
Similarly to all Demons, Abyssal Knights were resistant to elemental attacks, and had unnaturally high endurance. However, unlike most Demons, Abyssal Knights were fairly intelligent, and were capable of outsmarting their foes and creating effective strategies.
Social Structure and Interactions[]
Abyssal Knights were among the most likely of the subspecies of Demons to eventually gain their own command and troops. Knights were often the backbone of any Demonic commander's force, and individual squads were often trusted to act on their own initiative.
